At 54, I lost everything in the 2008 financial crisis. Fortune gone. Business collapsed. Four kids depending on me. Starting from zero.
Most people would call that rock bottom. I call it the beginning of the most important research of my life.
Because here's what I learned in those years of rebuilding: fear wasn't the problem. My relationship with fear was.
The executives I was coaching were dealing with the same challenge. High performers paralyzed by fear-based decision making. Leaders second-guessing themselves in critical moments. Teams playing it safe right when they needed to be bold.
Everyone kept talking about "overcoming fear" or "being fearless." But that's not how fear works. And it's definitely not how leadership works.
So I built a different approach. One that treats fear as data, not an obstacle. One that gives leaders a practical framework for decoding what their fear is telling them and using that intelligence to make better decisions.
That became Fear Intelligence. And the F.E.A.R. framework: Face, Explore, Act, Rise.
I'm a four-time published author, executive coach, and Vistage speaker and member with over 20 years working with executives across three continents. My latest book, Fear Intelligence: A Practical Framework for Leading Beyond Fear, breaks down the methodology I've used with hundreds of leaders.
But the credentials aren't what make this work effective. The lived experience is.
I've rebuilt from zero. I earned a black belt at 49. I've raised four kids while building a global business. I've lived on three continents and navigated volatile markets, cultural transitions, and personal crises that would have sidelined most people.
I don't teach Fear Intelligence from theory. I teach it from the trenches.
I'm a TEDx speaker, keynote presenter, and workshop facilitator. I work with executive teams, Vistage groups, CEO peer forums, and leadership conferences. My clients don't hire me because I'm nice or motivating. They hire me because I give them a framework that works, delivered without the corporate nonsense.
I don't do sugarcoating. I don't do fluff. I do straight talk backed by two decades of transformation work with leaders who needed results, not inspiration.
